Here is what you will need:

• Shadow box, or shallow wood planter
• Scissors
• Plastic for lining box 
• Wire cutters
• Staple gun
• Pencil
• Wire mesh
• Soil
• Lots of succulent amount will vary depending on the size of your shadow box. (be sure to get different sizes and shapes 2″ and 4″ pots are best)
• Decorative moss

You can add hardware to hang if yours does not come with one.   Then  line your shadow box or planter with plastic you will line bottom and sides.   

Next start to remove the succulents from there pots you are going to gently remove the soil,  and layout your succulents on your work space.  You will then repurpose the soil into your planter,  When adding soil do not skimp  it will make is so much easier if the soil is filled and more packed in. Cut your wire mesh to fit the top of your box,  Then staple in place,  you will be stapling both the plastic liner and wire mesh.  
Time to start planting,  with a pencil gently push the roots of the succulent through the wire mesh.  On larger plants you may need to cut a larger whole in the wire mesh.   Continue to fill in with succulents.

Finish off by adding decorate moss, this can add texture and color and also help the succulent go a bit farther.

These a great for indoors or outdoors.(If your plants do not seem seeded in firmly just give the succulent a week or two so the roots take hold) You can hang it on a wall or use and enjoy as a planter.

Depending on your climate your may need to remove and water form time to time,  I often just use a mister and just remove and freshen up when needed.   This is very low maintenance and as succulents can usually survive with very little water as they pull moisture out of the air.  I often go weeks with out watering.  Hope you have fun making your succulent creation!

And what a fun way to pamper yourself!  I am always fighting chapped lips (especially during this time of year!) and this lip scrub is amazing! Give this recipe a try, it’s quick & easy! 

Recipe from Hairspray and High Heels 

DIY Coconut & Honey Lip Scrubs

to make (8) 1oz containers:

• 1/8 cup coconut oil
• 1/8 cup honey
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 5 drops of your preferred essential oil (I made a batch with lavender and a batch with orange. I loved theme them both)!
• 1 drop bath colorant (optional)
• containers for storage & gift giving

In a small bowl, mix the honey and coconut oil together. Stir in the sugar, warm water, essential oils, and colorant if you wish. Divide into individual containers.

When you are ready to use, rub the sugar scrub on your lips in a circular motion for two minutes, rinse with lukewarm water. Enjoy!!

We love this Creamy Dill Dip recipe and found that it makes a great gift for the holidays.  You simply combine all the dry ingredients into a jar or bag and attach our free printable with the recipe instructions on the back. It’s so simply!  The recipient will love how quick and easy it is for them make the Dill Dip, they just combine the seasonings with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup sour cream.

Here are the ingredients you need to make the Dill Dip.  Combine the following ingredients into a small bowl and stir.  Then add to a jar or bag and attach labels.

• 2 TBSP dried dill weed
• 2 TBSP dried minced onion
• 1 TBSP dried parsley
• 1 tsp galic powder
• 1/8 tsp salt

The tags include the instructions on the back side for how to mix the dill dip  I recommend printing them on white cardstock. Here are a few suggestions of ways you can gift the Dill Dip.  Depending on the option you choose here are some supplies you’ll need:

• Hexagon Glass Jars (3oz)
• Cellophane bags (3×4)
• Dip Bowls

To gift them in small glass jars, add the mix into each jar and attach these smaller gift tags with the recipe instructions on the back.

If you want to give them in cellophane bags, then print the bag topper version of the Dill Dip instructions.

Lastly, you can add the dip mix into a jar or bag and add it with two dip bowls.  Wrap them all up in cellophane, attach this Dill Dip gift tag and instructions and tie it all up with a ribbon.

Fall is on the way and I have a project that will make for some cute fall decor. You take simple foam pumpkins and dress them up with yarn. I love the texture it ads to the pumpkins and you can easily customize the colors to match your decor.

Here is what you will need!

• Foam pumpkins pack 
• Assorted yarn, chunky or thick yarn works great!  The amount of yarn needed will vary depending on the thickness of your yarn.,  The thicker the yarn the less it will take to cover the pumpkins.  I used 3-6 yards depending for each pumpkin..  I used yarn lots of yarn remnants  that I had on hand.  I have heard that the Dollar Store is also a great place to get yarn.
• Small tree branch pieces about 1 inch long or cinnamon sticks
• Apple corer or potato peeler
• tool to help push yarn through hole, I used a fondue fork.
• Scissors

Remove stem from pumpkin.   Using a potato hollow out the center of the pumpkin.  You will want to hollow out about 1/2″ of a hole.

It’s time to grab your yarn.  Tie a knot at the end of the yarn and push it through the hole and pull out the other side.  Continue to add the yarn through the center hole by pushing, pulling and wrapping until you have covered the entire pumpkin.

One your pumpkin is fully covered, cut off the excess and push the knot end through the bottom of the pumpkin and add the stem on top.

It’s the kind of project you can do while watching TV.  It’s seriously so easy and so cute!

I love using my Cricut machine to make custom gifts and personalized items for me and my family. I used the Cricut Joy to make 3 bags to hold different things like travel supplies, make-up and markers.  If you are interested in getting a Cricut machine but don’t know which one is best for you, I recommend checking out this post where I highlight the benefits if each specific machine.  I have owned all three versions of the Cricut machines now and I think all of them are a great options for different reasons.

Here is a peek at the supplies I used in order to create these fun bags using the Cricut 3pk Cosmetic Bags.

For this bag I used the image My Happy Face Compact (#M175786CA) from Cricut Design Space and the Cricut Joy Holographic Smart Iron-On  in Dahlia.  I love how the holographic nature of the iron on makes it look like different shades depending on how the light hits it.  

I finally used Infusible Ink for the first time ever and I am hooked!   For this one I used the Cricut 2pk Joy Patterned Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets  in warm splashpad and cool splashpad.  Unlike an iron-on transfer or vinyl application, where artwork is attached on top of a the material using adhesive, Infusible Ink heat transfer becomes one with the material itself.  It’s so cool!  For this project I used the Spark Joy (#M228E788B) image from Cricut Design Space.

Lastly, I created a bag that was perfect for all my travels to hold things like charging cords, power adapters and things like that.  I used the Wanderlust Adventure Awaits (#M3AC9627) image from Cricut Design space and use the Cricut Joy Everyday Smart Iron-On in black and parchment.

For regular iron-ons an iron will work, but if you are looking to use Infusible Ink or to just make things easier the Cricut EasyPress 2 9″x9″ is something you will want.  The Cricut Joy Starter Tool Set is a handy thing to have too!

The Cricut Joy is a great option for labeling too!  You could use it to create labels in your kitchen like I did for my baking supplies.

I thought it would be fun to add something living to my faux tree this year.   I made a few of these Succulent Christmas ornaments for my tree.  These would be great to gift to anyone that loves plants too!

Succulent Christmas Ornaments

• 2 inch potted succulent (find at your local hardware store, and some grocery store floral department or buy from Amazon)
• Plastic open face ornaments (I bought mine at Amazon)
• White sand
• Cactus mix soil
• Decorations: mini pine cones, berries, glitter, ribbon are just a few great options

First you will need to remove succulent from pot and remove as much dirt as possible.  Run the roots under water to remove any excess dirt.

Grab your ornament, add a layer cactus mix soil and top off with white sand.  Nestle the succulent into the sand.  Use some decor to spruce it up, like  mini pine cones, berries, glitter balls whatever inspires you.  Finish off with a ribbon on top.

Care instructions: mist once a week to keep succulents happy.  They are very low maintaining and can pull the moisture it needs out of the air.  But, misting will keep them super happy.  These will stay healthy and happy through the new year.  You can even replant them after the new year if you like.

We have a very large wall in our kitchen dining area and I was hoping to add two long wood art ledges. I shopped around and I found that either the shelves were too short or just too expensive. I knew my husband and I could probably make what I was looking for at a fraction of the cost.  And we did!  I am so happy with how they turned out, how easy they were to make and how inexpensive they were to build.  If you aren’t feeling very DIY, you can buy the Picture Ledges in various sizes and stains from Etsy.  If you want to make your own, check out the instructions below!

Here is how we made them. You can adjust the length of the shelves to whatever size you need. Most home improvement stores can cut the wood down to the size you need if you don’t have a table saw at home. We chose 8′ board length. We used select pine boards but you can use regular pine board too to make them even less expensive.  You can download a printable copy of the DIY Picture Ledge instructions with diagrams or follow them right here.

DIY Picture Ledge Instructions

Three boards for each shelf you plan to make, cut to desired length of shelf (i.e. 4’, 6’, or 8’ long)

• Two 1” x 4” boards – BACK & BOTTOM board (A & B)
• One 1” x 2” board – FRONT LIP board (C)
• Wood glue (D)
• Eight countersink screws (E)
• Sandpaper
• Wood Putty (F)
• Stain

Tools Needed:

• Clamps that can accommodate a 6” gap (G)
• Drill & Countersink Drill Bit
• Screwdriver
• Brad or Finish Nailer (H)
• Paint brush or staining rags

Instructions:

Part 1

1. Cut each of the 3 boards (A,B,C) to the same desired length.
2. Apply wood glue to the back edge of board B and attach to the bottom front edge of board A.
3. Use clamps to securely hold boards A & B in place.
4. Use countersink drill bit to drill pilot holes on the “wall-side” of board A.
5. Install countersink screws to securely attach board A to board B.
6. Let glue dry before proceeding to Part II.

Part II

1. Apply wood glue to the front edge of board B.
2. Attach board C to board B and secure with clamps. **Note – Use scrap wood in between clamp and front side of Board C when securing clamps to protect board C from being damaged by clamps.
3. Secure board C to Board B with a brad or finish nailer.
4. Let glue dry before proceeding to Part III.

Part III

1. Remove clamps and apply wood putty to cover brad nails on front of shelf. Let cure.
2. Sand any rough edges to achieve a smooth finish.
3. Stain sanded shelf to desired color.

*NOTE* When mounting Picture Ledge to wall, be sure to attach to studs to ensure it will support the weight.

I used painters tape on my wall to use as a guide for where I wanted the shelves, it gave me a way to view it visually before attaching the shelves. The stain color I used on my boards was Minwax Special Walnut.  Here are where the prints are from on each shelf (left to right). For items from Hobby Lobby I listed the item number so you can search it on their website.  Also, when buying wall art from Hobby Lobby, never pay full price.  Their wall art pretty much goes 50% off every other week.

When we planned our kitchen remodel we made sure to map out every cupboard & drawer so we would know where things would go and what kind of storage we would need.  I knew I wanted to have a drawer for my spices in my island as well as a drawer that I could keep all my flour, sugar and baking staples .  I recently finished organizing & labeling the drawer and I wanted to share it with you!  I have been using it for a couple of months now and I love how convenient it is having everything at my fingertips instead of having to walk over to the pantry for everything.  I love it!

I use the Prepworks Prokeepers Storage Set for storing my flours and sugars and I love how they are designed.  The flour keeper has a device to help you level your flour when it’s in the measuring cup, the brown sugar keeper has a terra cotta disc to help keep your brown sugar fresh.  They truly have thought of everything.  If you have a Costco nearby, I highly recommend checking to see if they have the 6-pc set in stock.  I got one of my sets there when it was on sale for $23.99.  Their normal price is $29.99, which is a steal because the regular price for the set is $59.99. I own 2 of the 6 piece sets and I bought an additional flour keeper because I wanted my sugar storage to be the same size as the flour containers.  I use the extra containers in my pantry for items that don’t get used as much like oats, corn meal, cinnamon sugar, etc.

To make things easy for me,  I labeled the top of each container.  I used my Cricut to cut out black vinyl and adhere it to the top of each container.  I used a font that I found at DaFont called Valentime.  My Cricut is one of my favorite things I own, you can do so many things with it, like make custom tees, create holiday decor, make faux leather keychains and of course you can use it for labeling and so much more!  The Cricut has been a huge help when it comes to labeling and organizing my home.

Other things I have in the drawer are a salt cellar, garlic keeper, mini prep bowls and I have a pepper cellar coming soon. Having all the supplies I need for baking and making marinades stored in my island has made baking and dinner prep so much more efficient.  I have more kitchen organization planned for the refrigerator and a complete pantry overhaul.
