One of my favorite flavor combinations is chocolate and peppermint, so I love when Christmas come around because you can find it everywhere and I love it! Here’s a fun and tasty way to make the chocolate and peppermint combination in your own kitchen with these Candy Cane Peppermint Brownies.
Candy Cane Peppermint Brownies

Brownies
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1 TBSP vegetable oil
- 1 TBSP corn syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup flour
Peppermint frosting
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 – 2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp pepperment extract
- 1-2 TBSP whipping cream (or milk)
- red food coloring
- 2-3 candy canes crushed (to sprinkle on finished frosted brownies)
Preheat oven to 350. Line 9×9 pan with parchment paper and spray with non stick cooking spray. In large bowl, mix together butter, oil, corn syrup, sugar and cocoa. Next, mix in eggs and vanilla extract. Add flour until combined.
Add batter into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
For frosting, add butter into large mixing bowl and beat butter until soft. With mixer at medium speed beat in powdered sugar gradually. Add peppermint extract. With mixer on high speed beat in cream one 1TBSP at a time. add more powdered sugar if necessary. Remove half of the prepared frosting and set aside. Add red food coloring and mix. Using a pastry decorator bag with a star tip. Add red frosting on one side and the white frosting on the other side.
Decorate/frost brownies making a star pattern and cover the entire top of the brownie. The frosting should be a swirled color, giving it a candy cane look. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes and enjoy!
