Our family took a vacation to San Francisco, we had a long list of things we wanted to do and places we wanted to visit. One of the items on our list was a visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum. We are a Disney loving family, not only do we love the Disney Parks, but we love learning about Walt Disney and we knew a trip to the Walt Disney Family Museum would not only be fun but informative too. The museum in located in the Presidio area of San Francisco.
The museum and the exhibits are done well! Not only do you get to learn about Walt Disney and his dreams but you also get a peek into his personal life, you get to take a glimpse of Walt as a son, brother, husband, and dad.
Many parts of the museum are interactive. One of our favorite interactive parts of the museum was where it showed how synchronized sound was added to Steamboat Willie. We even got to take at shot at adding the sounds ourselves.
Many of the exhibits have a phone you can pick up and listen to actual sound bites from Walt Disney, his friends, family and co-workers. It’s very cool hearing about how things happened in their own voice.
The facility is really nice. I love all the video screens and the Walt Disney quotes throughout the museum. You really get a feel for the kind of guy Walt Disney was.
My favorite part of the museum was the replica of Disneyland. It is so neat to see all the little details and see what Disneyland looked liked when it was first opened in comparison to how it looks today. It was simply magical!
I thought it was also interesting to see the effect he had on the world. This wall was filled with images and cartoons that were created by Walt Disney fans when they heard of his passing. He was a man that was loved by many. He was truly a visionary and I am personally grateful for him and his motivation to make his dreams a reality.
Not only is the museum cool, it is located in a gorgeous setting. Here is a view of the Golden Gate Bridge from a wall of windows in the museum. If you are a Walt Disney fan and in the San Francisco area I recommend checking out the museum.
Our family took about 2 1/2 hours to tour the museum, you should be able to complete the museum in 2-3 hours. With your admission you can also visit the 114-seat screening room and view Disney classic films. While we were there, they were showing Pinocchio in conjunction with their special exhibition, Wish Upon a Star: The Art of Pinocchio.

Make sure you check out the information regarding the Walt Disney Family Museum, there are important things to note when visiting like the hours of operation and the fact that they are always closed on Tuesday.
My family was given comp tickets to the Walt Disney Family Museum in exchange for sharing our experience at the museum. My thoughts are honest and true.
