Leading the “responsible cleaning” charge for the past twenty years, Seventh Generation has tapped into the disinfecting power of the herb thyme, to introduce an EPA registered line of disinfecting sprays and wipes that kill germs* naturally! The new line of botanical disinfectant cleaners includes a multi-surface cleaning spray, bathroom cleaning spray and wipes.
I was sent some of these products to try, and here are my thoughts.
I like that the cleaners are natural, and not filled with harmful chemicals. The cleaners do have kind of a different type of smell, but it does not linger, like most cleaners do. I was very thankful to have the Disinfecting Wipes, these type of wipes are not something that I usually buy. We have had 3 kids with the flu at our house recently, and it was nice to be able to use these wipes to wipe down all the light switches and handles to make sure the rest of us stay healthy.
You can print coupons for Seventh Generation products HERE. There also will be some coupons in the Sunday 4/11 RP insert. Plus, don’t forget about the $5.00 rebate when you buy 3 Seventh Generation products.
Seventh Generation has partnered with eco-lifestyle consultant and author, Alexandra Zissu, whose new book, The Conscious Kitchen, discusses what’s good for your health, what’s good for the planet and what tastes great. Her book also includes great tips on maintaining a green and healthy kitchen.
I really enjoyed this book, she has some great ideas to help you have a healthy kitchen and family.
One of my readers will win one of these Seventh Generation Disinfecting cleaning kits that includes:
- Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner

When we moved into our new house we purchased all new energy star appliances and have switched to many natural cleaners. I have switched to Purex laundry detergent and use reusable grocery bag totes. I also had the idea to use reusable totes as gift bags instead of buying the paper ones from the store. This has actually been quite a hit and they don’t cost that much more. So I have a small stock pile of reusable bags for such an occasion and add more as i find interesting one. Often the target 1 dollar section has some fun ones for kids. I picked up the doctor Susse ones when they had those and even the adults liked them. 🙂

Well this year we have donated in various drop sites around town, clothes books and household items. We recycle everything in our home. We catch rain water to water indoor plants. Along with my bosses help we have started a recycling program at my work, all employees now recycle thier pop cans and glass. (As well as the normal paper items)
My daughters toys and shoes that are in pretty good condition have been donated to a local resell it shop so that they can be sold at the end of the month’s quarter sale. My thought is this, I have a toddler and I want her world to have some beauty left in it after my husband and I leave this earth. As children we remember being able to play outside and ride our bikes through wide open spaces. This isn’t what kids get to enjoy today! I am hoping that by reducing my families carbon footprint her (my daughter) family will one day be able to enjoy and appreciate this earth too! It also teaches her the valuable lesson, she is learning just as we are.
A family in transistion.
Vinegar is the best household cleaner I have found and it is really inexpensive.

We’ve upped the amount of recycling we do this year due to an actual “can” from the city vs just a small tub. Now we RARELY have a full garbage can on garbage day. This summer we’re starting a garden so we’ll be able to sort out food scraps for composting as well!

I proudly use cloth diapers!!!!

I recycle, use reusable bags, compost, and collect the cold water that runs while waiting for the hot water (when doing the dishes) and use it to water the plants, among other things.

With all the deals i’ve scored lately I started to accumulate an abundance of plastic bags! I’ve started carrying my own reusable bags instead. They can be folded and carried around in my purse. I’ve also started to buy more “green” cleaning products.
