Frugal Food Week continues and today’s cookbook review and giveaway is for Quick, Cheap Comfort Food: 100+ Fresh Recipes for Meals in a Hurry by Victoria Shearer.
This is another book that is on the small side dimensionally, but is packed with lots of money saving recipes. I am an organized person (well, at least I organized in my head – my bedroom closet, not so much organized), so I love how this book is laid out. It is easy to find how long the meal will take to prepare, cook and how many it will feed, because at the bottom of each recipe there is a reference for all of these things. I love that! If I need to look for a recipe I can make in 30 minutes are less, I don’t have to read through the entire recipe to find out if it is possible.
Here are things you will find in this cookbook:
- Tips for being creative, efficient, and prepared in the kitchen
- Most recipes cost less than $3.00 per serving
- Slow cooker meals (I love my slow cooker)
- Meals with as little as 15 “hands-on” minutes preparing it
- Most meals have a prep & cooking time of fewer than 3o minutes
- Make ahead meals for busy weeknights (freezer cooking)
This cookbook has it all, super quick and cheap meals, slow cooker meals and meals for freezer cooking.
Here are some recipes I am looking forward to trying:
Southwest Asian Chicken Salad – To make this meal a time saver you use a rotisserie chicken that you pick up from the deli. I love picking up a chicken when I am at Costco, because it makes for a simple dinner. I love that I now have a new way to prepare it.
Caramelized Onions – Super easy! I am not an onion eater, but my husband loves his onions caramelized. I am going to make this the next time we have onions and he will think I am the best wife ever.
Busy Morning Breakfast Cupcakes – Mini quiches bakes in a muffin tin. What a super idea, I know a couple of my boys would gobble these up. The are big time breakfast lovers.
This is a super, well organized cookbook with tons of great recipes. I can totally recommend this one, you can pick it up Quick, Cheap Comfort Food: 100+ Fresh Recipes for Meals in a Hurry at Amazon for only $10.17. Don’t forget the free shipping at Amazon when you spend $25 and select free super saver shipping.
