Just For Fun - $60 Weekly Budget

Just for fun, I thought I would have a $60 weekly grocery budget for our family of 7 for the month of February. I enjoy having a budget, and seeing how much I can get for a certain amount. Really, it’s kind of fun! I plan on putting the extra money I would have normally spent on groceries into our savings account. I will share each week what I buy and how much I spent.

You are more than welcome to join me in the challenge. You don’t have to have a $60 budget, you can do whatever works for you. It may be more, it may be less. Figure out how much you normally spend on groceries in a week and go with less. I normally average around $100 a week on groceries, so I am cutting it down by 40%.

Here is what I have bought so far this week:

I didn’t buy the cute kid in the picture, but the cute kid did convince me to buy those Doritios in the back. The regular price of everything here was $147.53, my coupons and store savings came to 106.73, so I paid $40.80 for everything here. I should mention I had a $10 off $50 coupon, and a coupon for a free turkey, so that helped bring the cost down.

Here is what my $40.80 bought:

4 1/2 gallon milk

2 2 lt pop

2 frozen pizzas

3 boxes crackers

1 bag doritios

1 14 lb turkey

2 lbs ground beef

2 lbs chicken

1 pkg bacon

1 pkg sliced cheese

4 pkg bagels
