The wonderful folks over at Hyperion Books sent me a copy of Stephanie O’Dea’s new cookbook More Make It Fast, Cook It Slow: 200 Brand-New, Budget-Friendly, Slow-Cooker Recipes. I love her website and her first book, so I was pleased when I found out that she has a new book.
At first glance, I have seen so many recipes I want to try, and this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, because I am burned out on dinner and am in need of new ideas. Plus, the fact that I got a brand new slow cooker for Christmas doesn’t hurt either!
The book is divided into categories, but it is also divided into cost, so you can easily find recipes that are under $7, under $10 and under $15.
Here are a few of the recipes I plan on trying over the next week or two:
Red Potatoes with Rosemary and Garlic (I love the thought of cooking a side dish in the slow cooker)
General Tso’s Chicken (my husband fave!)
Cauliflower Gratin (love me some cauliflower – especially covered in cheese!)
Oreo Cookie Cheesecake (Oreo’s & Cheesecake – can’t go wrong with that!)
I am so thrilled with this new book, I have decided to give one away to one lucky reader! To enter, simply leave a comment letting me know what you love to cook in your slow cooker. This giveaway will close on Wednesday, January 12th at 9:00 pm, and I will announce the winner shortly thereafter. Good Luck!
A big thanks to Hyperion Books for sending me a copy of the book to review. I am providing the giveaway copy on my own for several reasons. One, I like the book. Two, I like all of you. Three, I am just in a really good mood.

Just last night, I cooked stuffed green peppers in my crockpot. That was the first time for cooking them. And they turned out pretty darn good. Plus, I have four year old TRIPLETS (’nuff said ;), so any crockpot recipe is easier than slaving over a stove! 🙂

We like to cook taco soup, potato soup and roast in our crockpot! Would love to do more in it now that I have an 11 month old and not a lot of time to cook at night…I could just mix it up and let the crockpot do the work and it would be easy instructions for hubby if he had to do it 🙂

Hi Christy – I’m just starting to use my slow-cooker (yes, I know I’m behind the times!) to cook for my hubby & 3 boys. I’d love to have a new cookbook, especially one with budget-friendly recipes! Thanks!

I love to make applesauce!! With 2 young girls in the house, we go through TONS of applesauce! It is so easy to make and I LOVE the smell in my house while it’s cooking! My girls love it hot or cold and it seems to disappear just as fast as I make it! 😉
