We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
The last 2 years our family has taken a trip to Disneyland, and this year we are planning a trip to Disney World (keeping our fingers crossed that it all works out!)
The last time I posted about our Disney trip I got several people asking for some money saving tips on a vacation to the Disney Parks. I figured since I am planning a trip, I will share with you what I am doing so you can save along with me if you plan on going to Disney sometime soon. I will have several different posts over the next couple of months, because there is way TOO MUCH information to put all in one post.
Obviously, the first thing you will need to do is start saving money, you want to make sure that you DO NOT finance your vacation with a credit card. We don’t really have a budget category for vacations, so we use “extra” money we earn, for our vacations. This “extra” money comes from many different sources:
- Ebay sales
- Bonus my husband gets from work
- Money I earn from my blog
- Misc. Jobs (I help out at a flower shop on holidays)
- Rebates (when I deposit my rebate checks I transfer the $ to our savings account)
- Coin Jar (we save all the loose change and dollar bills)
The second thing you will want to do is LOTS of research. You can spend tons of time online figuring out when is the best time to go, what are the best hotels, where you can get discounted tickets and lots of other details.
I highly recommend The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World 2010 (Unofficial Guides) and The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2010 (Unofficial Guides). These books are super resources, the author has thought of everything, and it is great to have all the information in one spot. Love them!
Another great resource for planning a Disney trip is MouseSavers.com, they have so much information on their site. I am sure if you have any questions regarding a Disney trip, it can be answered at MouseSavers.com.
Look for lots more information coming soon! If you have any great sites, tips or money saving advice you have for planning a Disney trip that you would like to share, just email me at [email protected], and I will add them to the upcoming posts. Thanks!
