Sometimes you want a fun treat, but you don’t want all the work. I decided to take a store bought brownie mix and dress up the brownies for Valentine’s Day. I think they turned out cute.
Here are the items you will need:
Brownies:
- Brownie mix (13 x 9 family size)+ the ingredients listed on box.
- Jelly Roll Pan
- Heart Cookie Cutters (2 varying sizes)
Frosting:
- 1 Cup Powered Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Water
- Food Coloring (if desired)
Finishing Touches:
- Sprinkles
Follow instructions on the box to make the brownie mix, using all the ingredients listed on box. Next, line a large jelly roll pan with foil and grease. Pour brownie mix onto the jelly roll pan, it will be a very thin layer. Cook at 350 for 10 minutes, let cool entirely
4. Using 2 different size heart cookie cutters, use the large heart to cut cooled brownies into heart shapes. Once all your hearts are cut out, save half of the hearts to use for the top of the brownies. With these hearts you just separated, use the smaller heart cookie cutter in the center of the heart and remove the small heart out of the brownie.
To make the icing, combine the powdered sugar and water. Spread some of the icing on the solid hearts.
Place the hollowed heart shape on top.
Add sprinkles in the center of the heart to finish off your treats. This is a fun and easy way to make Valentine’s treats for the classroom, or just a fun project for your kids and family.
