Watch Out for Amazon Lightning Deals

When I say “watch out” for Amazon Lightning Deals, I mean 2 things, the first is “watch out” for them because something on your Christmas shopping list may show up at a great discount.  I was able to purchase a Lego Creator House set that was on my daughter’s Christmas list last year at 40% off. That day the lightning deals was a perfect match for me!

The second is “watch out” for those lightning deals, because you may end up purchasing something you don’t need or can’t afford, just because it is a good deal.   It’s happened to me before!!

I think the tough thing about the Amazon Lightning Deals is that they are only available for a very short time, so it doesn’t really give you enough time to thoroughly think through the purchase process.   They make you think “quick”, and I don’t know about you, but I don’t do my best thinking when I have to think “quick”.

Here are a few things that I do to make sure I get (or don’t get) the Amazon Lightning Deals:

1. Look at the descriptions of each deal ahead of time, you can see if anything fits into the category of something you are looking for.
2. If you see something is available at 4:00 that you are interested in, make sure you check in at that time.
3. Click “Add to your Cart” even if you aren’t done thinking if you want it or yet, some items get claimed within minutes.   You have to claim the item to have a chance to buy it.   Claiming the item doesn’t mean you HAVE to buy it, if you choose not to buy it, it will be offered to other’s on the wait list.
4. Amazon will then give you a certain amount of time before you need to check out, use this time to see if the item is in your budget, check reviews and make a good decision.
5. If the time to decide is almost up and you are still unsure, just let it go – another deal will always come along.
