I mentioned earlier today that the red dot items in the dollar section were 75% off as well as the bagged Easter Candy (Renton Target). I wanted to show you what I bought for only $ .06 (before tax).
A super sweet lady noticed that I was buying the Hershey Kisses, and she gave me a $1/3 coupon – how sweet is that!! We were both back in the Easter section at the same time and I saw she had some coupons for the Kisses, so I looked in mine, but I couldn’t find any. She came over to me in the dollar section after she checked out and gave me and extra coupon. SO SWEET!!
I used several of the $5/2 and $2/1 Revlon coupons and more printed again!!
(3) Hershey Kisses @ .72
used $1/3 coupon (from another shopper)
(2) M&M’s @ .72
used $1/2 Tearpad coupon (not sure where I got it – I only had one)
(2) Revlon emery boards @1.29
used (2) $2/1 checkout coupon
(4) Revlon compact nail clippers @ 1.59
used (2) $5/2 checkout coupon
(2) Carefree Liners .99
used get for .01 coupon from 4/17 SmartSource insert (-.98)
(6) metal pails @ .25
(3) notepads @ .25
1 pencils @ .25
(4) notecards @ .25
Final Price = $ .06 The regular retail of everything was just over $39!! I love Target!!

that is amazing but i dont get how it was only 6 cents if you didnt have coupons for everything? sorry im still learning….
The store actually owed her money on some of the transactions which carried over took care of the overage. =)
i wish i could save like that i guess its going to take awhile for me to catch on
@Ashley They took off the full value of the Revlon coupons, even though they totaled less than the coupon. Let me share an example for you.
Example:
2 Revlon nail clippers @ 1.59 = 3.18
-5.00 for the $5/2 coupon
Final Price = FREE + an overage of 1.82 that I can use towards other items I purchase.
Not every Target will allow the full value of the coupons, sometimes they will adjust the coupon down, but every single time I have used the Revlon coupons they have given me the full value. Plus, more coupons print out, so I can do the same thing on another transaction.
@Coupon Kim It does take awhile to get the hang of it, but before you know it you will be saving TONS of money. If you have any questions, let me know!
Is it Targets policy to adjust the manuf coupon? I went and tried to do your example and the cashier would not adjust the coupon.. please help!
Thanks
@Caralee Yes, they should adjust the coupon down if the products are less than the coupon. Here is what is stated in their policy: “Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.”

With the Revlon $5/2 coupons, you should be able to get 2 items for FREE, (nail clippers & emery boards) buy you may or may not get the overage.
I feel like my head is going to explode learning this stuff. ha! I went to Albertson’s today and spent $45 on almost nothing. I have SO much to learn. (And, hadn’t brought the few coupons I have already clipped.) I need to learn SO much more. Way to go on the bargains!
@Janine – I have trips where I spend $45 and I only end up with 2 bags. Not all my trips are amazing – lots of them are “normal”. In fact, I am on my way to Fred Meyer now to pick up things we are out of like milk, bread and fruit. It won’t be nearly as amazing as my Target trip!
Before you know it, clipping coupons will be like second nature to you! It just takes some time to get it all figured out.
@Janine – I am trying to get the hang of couponing but having a 2 year old with me full time (and limited windows in which I can shop, PLUS living far away from most stores) means I can’t take advantage of many deals. Maybe in the future, but right now I only do the REALLY good ones.
That being said – I got a cute little organizer at Target the other day that has 5 dividers (it’s an accordion-style divider attached to one side) and a notepad (on the opposite side) and a little elastic band to close the whole thing. Nice & compact. It cost about $4 (my little sister actually bought it for me so it was free for me!) and is perfect for my needs. I still have my coupons on me, I sort them into very basic categories (personal care, frozen, pantry, household, expiring soon and then the front portion I store coupons that I KNOW I will use soon). This might be a good way to start out. I find it much easier than doing an big coupon book, which doesn’t suit my needs right now. Anyway, good luck. Even in the little bit I’ve done I have saved quite a bit! Just hope when my daughter is older & in school I can get more into it!
the easter clearance at my store went to 90%! i got 12 mighty beanz 3 packs, 12 easter tins, 6 bags of easter crinkled shred, 1 lip smackers 4 pack, and 1 easter egg rubber stamp decorating kit–all for $9. my receipt says i saved $76.68. the mighty beanz toys will the giveaway at my son’s birthday party and the tins i’ll use for my daughter’s bday! thank you for helping my imagination stretch and finding other uses for these items.
