Thanks to Adams Media, I was sent a copy of The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World by Susan Veness, to review as part of my Disney on a Budget Series. This book is filled with over 600 secrets of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.
As soon as this book came my teen son grabbed it and read it from cover to cover, he loves to find out about all the little secrets of Walt Disney World. He would read an interesting fact, and then tell the entire family of his new found wisdom. After my son was done, I finally got a chance to read over this book. It was a fun read, it is filled with lots of “fascinating facts” of things you wouldn’t normally know about the parks. It also has secret tips from Disney Imagineers. My son is convinced he wants to be a Disney Imagineer when he grows up.
The book goes over every area in each theme park and shares hidden details that may be overlooked by many people. There are behind the scenes details on rides, buildings, and attractions. I think it’s fascinating all of the work that went into planning Walt Disney World, this book shares lots of those facts.
I can recommend this book if you are visiting Walt Disney World for the first time or the tenth time. For those of you that have been to the parks several times, this book will give you some new things to look for and facts that your probably never knew before. It’s a fun read!

Oooo, I want this book, too! I love all things Disney World – and 3 of my 4 kids want to be Imagineers, too. (And I want to go work there when I grow up…) Sounds like a fun book!

Lol! My husband loves the Imagineering stuff too! He does that type of work for a living (not at Disney but that’s okay) and if it’s something your kids are really interested in, there are a lot of great opportunities! If you have kids getting close to college age and they’re still interested, check out the prototype engineering program at Bemidji State University. I know quite a few people who have gone through the program (including my hubby) and they love their jobs. They work for different companies making models ranging from snowboards at Burton, fishing reels at Zebco, cell phones at Motorola, etc. The opportunities are endless and it’s really a fun career!
