Tart Cherry Scones with Vanilla Glaze

Description

These Tart Cherry Scones with Vanilla Glaze are super easy to make and simply delicious.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 TBSP baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter frozen
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen pitted tart cherries

Glaze

  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups powder sugar
  • 12 TBSP water

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients

Grate the chilled butter into the bowl of dry ingredients and work in with a pastry cutter

The mixture should be crumbly

Add egg and half and half in small bowl and whisk, gradually adding to the dry ingredients

  1. Chop the cherries and remove excess moisture with a paper towel
  2. Sprinkle them with a bit of sugar and flour
  3. Then, gently fold into dough mixture
  4. Spray the scone pan with cooking spray and pat the dough into the scone pan, filling it about 1/2 full
  5. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes

To make the glaze:

  1. In a small bowl. Add powdered sugar, 1 TBSP of water, and 1 tsp of vanilla
  2. Stir together and continue to slowly add water until you get the desired consistency
  3. After removing your scones from oven, top with vanilla glaze

Notes

  • This recipe will make 8 scones with my scone pan)
  • If you do not have a scone baking pan, simply shape the dough into 3 large circles and cut each circle into four pieces, forming 12 small scones. 
  • Best enjoyed warm
