Is everyone getting anxious for the Target Toy Clearance to start? I am looking forward to it, it is so much fun! I think I have convinced my husband to stop by a Target on his way to work for me again this year (and write about it!).
He had fun last year, so much fun that he even stopped at a Target on his way home from work too. Last year, he almost didn’t buy anything. I wasn’t seeing any posts on Gotta Deal mentioning people finding 75% off, so he stopped at Southcenter store on his way too work (out of the kindness of his heart, I didn’t ask him to). He called to tell me that they were in fact 75% off. I asked him what they had, and he said “I don’t know I am walking back to my car.” HELLO!!!! I told him to grab a cart and get himself back inside. He found so many great deals, that I didn’t find at the 3 stores I went to. He found a HUGE Indiana Lego Jones set at 75% off and made 2 other ladies jealous.
So, anyway on to my point! Sorry, I can go on and on about the Target clearance, I just love it. Last year the day most of the markdowns took place was on January 15th. If they follow the same schedule this year (which may or may not happen), the markdown will probably take place next week. It could be the week after though. There has been one report on Gotta Deal of it going today, so it could happen this week too. Either way, it should happen on a Wednesday or Thursday.
Lots of people are reporting that the toys at their store have been marked down to 50% off. I resist the urge to buy anything at 50% off and here are the reasons why:
- There is usually enough selection at 75% off that I will find tons of stuff
- I already have a good stockpile of gifts
If there is something that you really, really want, I would go ahead and pick it up at 50% off. If they happen to have the same item at 75% off, you can re-buy and return the one you bought at 50% off. Target will NOT do price adjustments on clearance items, so your only option is to re-buy. Lego’s are one of the items that sometimes don’t make it to 75% off, so if there is a set you are eyeing, you may want to pick it up.

UPDATE: There are reports of 2 stores having a few of the larger items marked down to 75% off. They are probably trying to get rid of the larger items to make room. I have had WAY more reports of things being 30-50% off, so I don’t think the big markdown has started today.
