I like to save as much as possible when I buy an item. I have found that you can save a lot of money by purchasing refurbished items. Buying refurbished items, is a super way to save on ipods. I have personally bought 4 refurbished ipods (for myself & for gifts), and all of them have been in perfect working condition and are still going strong. I even washed one in our washing machine, and it still works too. Two of them were bought over 2 years ago too.
