My youngest recently received his older brothers Nintendo DS, and was thrilled to get to try out his very own Nintendo DS game for the first time. We were given a copy of Poptropica Adventures
to review.
Ubisoft has brought the popular online game Poptropica to the Nintendo DS, so you can play this popular game anywhere. Poptropica was created by Jeff Kinney, the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. My son is just now getting into the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books so, he was excited to see what the game was all about.
First, you get to start out by creating your own avatar and you can dress him or her up in a variety of different styles. I think my kids enjoy making their own avatars as much as they enjoy playing the actual games, so this is a plus in my book. It’s amazing how much time they will put into making just the right avatar for themselves.
Next, you will complete a series of quests across three islands looking for artifacts that will help you restore the museum. When you complete the quests you will unlock a host of mini-games that provide more challenges and variety.
This game is totally appropriate for children, there is no violence whatsoever! Unfortunately, my son has been down with the flu for nearly a week (poor guy!), the Poptropica Adventures games helped to entertain him while he recovered from his illness. My son and I can highly recommend this game!
