I had the opportunity to test out the new KURU Chicane Trails shoes, and I have to say – I love them. I have owned another pair of KURU shoes and I really enjoyed them too, but like most shoes those took a little time to “break them in”. The new KURU Chicane shoes felt great straight out of the box – I kid you not!! That was my very first thought when I tried them on and started walking around. I noticed today, that just happens to be one of the things they mention on their website. (I promise, these were my thoughts before I even read them on the website!)
The Chicane is the leading trail shoe that fits more feet, out of the box. It’s no wonder it has won both the 2011 and 2012 About.com Reader’s Choice Award for best trail shoe. The innovative, asymmetrical tongue shape of the Chicane follows the curve of your instep allowing it to adapt to even more foot shapes. In addition, a smartly placed tongue gusset keeps debris away from your feet. The Chicane keeps you moving on the trail, or vacation, and away from blisters or hot spots.
The heel of the shoe really conforms to your foot, which makes them super comfortable. I was surprised how comfortable my feet were the very first week I wore them, they didn’t require any time to get used to them. Love that! Just like other KURU shoes, they conform to your feet.
Now that spring is here I plan to start walking the trails more and I am thrilled I have a comfortable pair of shoes to do my walking in. Plus, they would be an excellent shoe for one of my favorite activities – visiting a Disney Theme Park! My other pair of KURU’s went with me last time we went to a Disney Theme Park and I am sure these shoes will be coming along with me on our next Disney trip. They will save my feet from all that walking!
Here are a few other features I love about the shoes:
- I love that come come in darker colors, especially for a trail shoe.
- I love the bright pop of pink for the trim, it makes them a little more “girly” and fun.
- The shoes are breathable and have moisture wicking liners.
- They have good grips on the bottom of the shoes.
- The tongue on this shoe is thick and offers great padding, plus it prevents lots of debris and water from getting in (we get lots of rain here in Washington, so it’s a big plus).
Having good comfortable shoes is a must. I am very frugal by nature, but I am a firm believer that in some cases you really do get what you pay for, and having great shoes is definitely worth paying extra money for.
I will say that the website says the Chicane fits true to size, but I had to go a 1/2 size up from what I normally wear, so keep that in mind if you plan to pick some up for yourself.
I encourage you to head on over to the KURU website, so you can check out their entire line of shoes. The KURU Chicane has once again named About.com ‘s Best Trail Shoes. I received a pair of KURU Chicane shoes in order to facilitate my review, no other compensation was given. I have shared my honest opinion with you regarding these shoes. That’s how I roll!
