I received an email from Jessica, a Thrifty and Thriving reader, she has a friend with an Autistic son and they are trying to get
support for one of the Pepsi Refresh Grants. Here is the message from her friend:
Dear Friends & Family-
As most of you know, Josh has been undergoing intensive therapy for
over three years now. In the past two years we have been consulting
with an RDI (Relationship Development Intervention) therapist, who has
been working with Josh and us on a therapy that truly has changed
Josh’s life. His development has seen significant gains and he is
changing day after day in ways that we didn’t ever dream possible.
This therapy is NOT covered by any health insurance though, so for
every consultation and therapy we pay completely out of pocket. Our
RDI therapist, Darcy DeFrees has been working on getting families
financial support for this therapy. Beginning July 1st, her autism
consulting business will be in the running for a grant from the Pepsi
refresh everything project.

$50,000 to create a scholarship account so she can use to offer
families financial assistance for services. Now that her idea is in
the running, the only way to become a grant recipient is to acquire
enough votes to keep her idea in the top ten of its category by the
end of July. Please WATCH THE VIDEO to get a better idea of what we
are working for.
