I love this time of year all the seasonal treats! One of my favorite’s is peppermint ice cream. The homemade version is even better than store bought. Yum! I really love some mini chocolate chips thrown in too. You can pretty much pair chocolate with anything and it becomes my favorite flavor combination. (I have already been to Chick-Fil-A twice for their Peppermint Milkshake)
Peppermint Ice Cream
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
- 2 drops of red food coloring
- Ice cream maker
Combine cream, milk, sugar, extract, and 2 drops of red food coloring to bowl and whisk until combined. Add ingredients to ice cream maker (I personally use the KitchenAid 2 Quart Ice Cream Maker Attachment and I love it! ) mix for 20 minutes until it doubles in size. Add the crushed peppermint candy, and mix until will combined.
Freeze for 1-2 hours scoop and enjoy!
