I was looking forward to checking out Hidden Mickeys – A Field Guide To Walt Disney World’s Best Kept Secrets by Steven M. Barrett, because I think this book will be a lot of fun for the whole family. There are hundreds of images of Mickey Mouse hidden throughout Walt Disney’s Worlds theme parks, restaurants, stores, hotels and other areas put there by the Disney artists and designers. This book helps you find all of the hidden Mickeys, it makes for a fun scavenger hunt. I am thinking my teens will get a real kick out of hunting for the hidden Mickey’s.
The thing that I like best about this book is that they don’t tell you exactly where to look for the hidden Mickey’s, they give you clues. He even will give you “hints” if the clues are enough for you. The part that I think is really fun is that he has make it a game. Each hidden Mickey is worth a certain amount of points. We are going to WDW towards the end of summer, so I am guessing we will have some longer waits in line that we are used to, this book will help entertain us while we are waiting.
It’s the perfect size to fit right in my bag, so I will be able to take it with us when ever we head to any of the parks. I can’t wait to put this book to use.
Steven M. Barrett, also wrote target=”_blank”The Hassle-Free Walt Disney World Vacation book, which had flexible touring plans for adults, teens, families and seniors. The thing I liked about this book the most is that it is a manageable book to read and help you plan your trip, it is not overwhelming. It is filled with just the right amount of information.
Some of the things you will find in this book are:
- General park information (tickets, parking, etc)
- A list of what you should bring on your vacation
- Great explanations about all the rides
- Touring plans for for each park for different types of groups
This may seem silly, but I was thrilled to learn that I should bring a fat pen, for the characters to use. When they sign autographs, it is much easier for them to sign with a fatter pen. I wouldn’t have thought about that!
This book is a quick and easy read filled with lots of wonderful information to help you plan and enjoy your trip to Walt Disney World.
I was sent these two books from the Intrepid Traveler to review, no compensation was given, these opinions are my own.

We got the hidden Mickey book when we went to Fl last year. It was SOOOO MUCH FUN!! We came home and felt like everywhere we went from Target to Albertsons, we were looking for hidden Mickey’s!!
The Disneyland one we got also, and it’s fun, but we haven’t used it as much as we did the Disney World one. We spent 10 days there, and usually only do Disney Land for a day.
