Have you signed up with Groupon yet? I signed up awhile ago, but I have yet to take advantage of any of the offers. I think I might just take advantage of the deal they have today. They are offering big discounts on membership to to Seattle’s Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum.
Here are the different memberships you can get:
- $25 Individual Membership (Free admission for 1 + 2 single-use guest passes)
- $30 Dual Membership (Free admission for 2 + 2 single-use guest passes)
- $40 Family Membership (Free admission for 2 adults and all children under 18 + 4 single-use guest passes)
Here is why is is a great deal for our family:
2 adults @ 15.00 = 30.00
5 children @ 12.00 = 60.00
Total for our family = 90.00
If we were to pay the regular admission it would be more than double what it would cost for a family membership today + we will get 4 FREE tickets to use when family member visit. We haven’t been to this exhibit yet, so I think this is a great opportunity for our family to go. We have some big SciFi geeks in our house!
If you are interested in this opportunity, you will want to sign up at Groupon and then click on the “buy” button under “todays deals”, you will then see all 3 of the membership options you have to choose from. Has anyone been to this museum? Let me know what you think.

My husband and I went to this museum several years ago and had a blast. We would love to be able to take our kids there. My husband is quite the guitar nut and there was the history of guitars which he loved, there was also a tribute to Jimmy buffett that was pretty cool. They also had this “lab” area where you could learn to play a rift from a song on several instruments. I brageed to my kids that I learned to play bass there. If you are into music it is a great place to go. If we were closer we would definately get a membership, we still might go in on this one though.

CHRISTY,
BRIAN AND I WENT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. IT WILL BE A HIT WITH YOUR FAMILY. I THINK THAT FAMILIES WITH TEENAGERS WILL LOVE THIS MORE THAN FAMILIES WITH SMALL CHILDREN. I WANT TO GET THIS MEMBERSHIP. THANKS FOR THE INFO.

Sweet! We bought our family membership last year for $75.00.
Hey, have you ever bought coupons on ebay?
Christy says
Yes, I have bought coupons on ebay before. If I am buying them for an upcoming sale I try to find ones that are “Buy it Now”, or ones that are close to Washington, so I can get them quicker.
I recently bought 2.00 All coupons, so I could use them for this deal here:

We’ve been to the EMP a few times and I have mixed feelings about it. I was a teenager in the 90’s…so this place is especially awesome with all its grunge roots. But, you really have to be into music to truly appreciate it. Upstairs is an area where you can have jam sessions, which is great if you actually know how to play the instruments…not so great if you don’t. They also have mixing booths and turntables to scratch on. Again, great if you know what you are doing…otherwise you are just playing with knobs and dials. The rotating exhibits are interesting, the last two times I went there were some pretty cool Beatles and Hendrix exhibits that I would have enjoyed looking at, but the kids were bored. Bummer. The science fiction is cool if you are into that sort of thing, which it sounds like you are. My kids are a little on the young side for that. All in all, it just depends on the people going. I would never go if you weren’t a fanatic of either Sci-Fi or music. I am glad to see how the prices have gone down, because I know when it first opened, they were unrealistic and the tickets were like $35-40 a person! The groupon is an awesome deal that I think I may take advantage of…one more fun thing to do when school is out!
