I JUST signed up for the card…will this apply immediately for me or do I have to have something built up to earn the free batteries?
Do you know if this works for on-line orders as well? I was just gearing up to order a case of copy paper and a cartridge for my printer so I will already qualify for free shipping. Would love to get the batteries and save myself a trip to the store! 🙂
If you just signed up for the card, make sure you print the temporary card, and then have then scan it when you make your purchase.
This is how the Staples Rewards work, I will use the batteries as an example:
You buy the batteries for 9.99, Staples will give you a 9.99 credit and mail you a certificate good for 9.99 (+ the price of any offers you took advantage of).
These certificates come at the end of each quarter. You can use your Staples Rewards certificate for anything Staples sells, you can even use the certificate to buy items that qualify for 100% back in Staples Rewards.
I hope this makes sense. I plan on doing some posts in the future that will explain in detail each stores programs, and I will add Staples to that list.

I hate to bother you with another question, but here goes….can you get TWO $9.99 reward rebates on the batteries since it says limit 2 or are you limited to only one $9.99 rebate? Thanks again!
Kathy, it’s not a bother – I love talking deals! Yes, you can get 2 of them FREE, you will get $9.99 back twice if you buy 2 packs. So, if you buy 2 battery packs, you will actually get back $19.98 in rewards to spend later.
