I have another cookbook to share with you, this time it is Fix, Freeze, Feast: Prepare in Bulk and Enjoy by the Serving by Kati Neville and Lindsay Tkacsik. I was excited to receive this book. I have mentioned before that I fail miserably in the menu planning department. Freezer cooking has made my life so much easier when it comes to dinner time. I love having lots of options when it comes to freezer cooking, and this book gives you more than 125 recipes.
The introduction in the book is very helpful, especially if you aren’t familiar with freezer cooking, it explains everything in great detail.
The recipes are broken up into 6 sections:
- Chicken Main Dishes
- Beef Main Dishes
- Pork Main Dishes
- Meatless Mains, Sides & Soups
- Sauces, Marinades, & Flavored Butters
- Breakfast Snacks & Sweets
Most of the recipes in this book make 3 entrees each, so you do the work once, and you end up with 3 meal in the freezer. This is such a time saving feature. Love it! There are so many recipes in this book that I want to try. Sometimes you get a cookbook and the recipes are a little “out there”, everything is this book is totally “do-able”.
One of my favorite features of this book is the freezer labels at the back of the book. You can photo copy the labels and then add them to your frozen meal. No need to pull out the cookbook every time you wan to cook something, you can include it with the frozen meal. Brilliant idea!
These are some of the items I look forward to making on my next cooking day (there are LOTS I want to try):
Beef & Bean Burritos – My teenage boys come home from school and always want something to eat. They would love it if I had a freezer full of burritos for them to eat.
Perfect Pesto – We usually have pasta at least once a week. I am always looking for new and creative sauce ideas.
Caribbean Pork Tenderloin – This one just sounds yummy! Lots of great seasonings in this one. I can’t wait to try it.
Breakfast Burritos – My boys are going to love these in the morning. This is such a better option than the ones you can buy in the frozen food section.
Mozzarella Meatballs – Meat & Cheese, two of my favorite things (after chocolate and strawberries of course). These sound awesome, I think my family would eat these up (minus the extremely picky child of course).
If you haven’t tried freezer cooking, I suggest you give it a try. It has made a world of difference in my meal planning. You don’t have to have a full month worth of meals to get benefits from freezer cooking, I usually just pull 2 or 3 meals from the freezer each week for those nights when things are busy. The Fix, Freeze, Feast: Prepare in Bulk and Enjoy by the Serving – More than 125 Recipes
is a super cookbook to get you started. I highly recommend it. It is available through Amazon
for only $9.72. That is a super deal!
