So, I’ve been working on organizing my craft room for months now! I think it’s taken soooo long because I get distracted and side tracked so easily in there! How could I not?? It’s a craft room!!
Tinkering in there during the day is perfect because my table sits right in front of a big window and it lets massive amount of light shine in, but night time, not so much! That’s when I decided to whip up this little baby!
There are so many super cute traditional shades, but I needed one that let the light shine brightly to see all the little details I was working on!
Now if you’re here at T&T you like to save money and this lamp will definitley keep more green in your pocket!
I originally found the base of this lamp at a thrift store. It had great personality, so I snagged it up for $7.00, SCORE! Thrift stores are such a great place to find perfect pieces to upcycle!
I didn’t exactly have a new shade in mind until I was ignoring a good nights sleep {I must have slept walked up to the craft room!} and tossed my mini pliers into the trash can. The light went off the minute I looked down to get them!! My wonderful little Dollar Store trash can! They seriously have a huge selection of colors and sizes!
I have tons of fabric scraps left from the craft room makeover, so what better way to tie the lampshade in! I used 6″ strips and went to town tieing them around the top and bottom!
The new shade was super easy to put on since it has a gazillion holes in it! I found the one that was in the center, poked the screw through and screwed the decorative piece back on! Voila…brand new cute lamp for about $10 bucks!! {Lamp $7, Trash can $1 and fabric scraps $2 bucks!}
I think the little baskets would be great to upcycle into hanging lights!! If you have lamps you’ve whipped up, I ‘d love to see them!!
Enjoy!

hey there and may I add WOW!!
so how is the lamp doing? I was curious about the heat of the bulb on the metal or should I say
what ever the metal was covered with. I would assume the bulb must be about 40 watts or less but
it was just adorable and was curious. Hope to hear back from you on this
Thanks for sharing

That looks like it was thrown together from junk. Sometimes these things can be surprising, This looks like a 1.00 store trash can tossed over a lightbulb.. but worse because of the tacky scraps.

It IS for a craft/crafter’s room, the scrap tiles wouldn’t have been my first choice, maybe for a kid’s playroom…but it did give me a new idea for a lampshade for a beautiful lamp I’ve had for ages and ALWAYS hated the shade that came with – it was too short! But the lamp is a big floor lamp and difficult to find shades that size. Perfect solution – Thanks Bunches!! I will be doing something different for the final touches – mine is for our bedroom. But the lenght should be just about right. Go Crafters!!
