Booking a package deal to Disneyland can often times save you money and the majority of our Disneyland vacations have been booked with a package deal. Two of my favorite places to book Disneyland packages are through Get Away Today and Costco Travel. I should mention when booking a package deal we always book our airfare separately, we don’t include that in the Costco Disneyland tickets package.
What Comes with your Costco Disneyland Tickets Package
I am going to show you all the items and extras included in the Costco Disneyland Travel package for 2020 (styles and colors of extras will vary). Tickets that are part of your vacation package, along with your other vacation documents, will be delivered to your hotel to be picked up when you check in. Here is a peek at what’s included in the package and some tips too.
Hotel Voucher
You will receive a voucher for your hotel stay that will be sent directly to the hotel. Many times parking fees will be included or reduced with your stay, so if you have a car that will save you a little extra. When you book your package through Costco Travel you can choose from several different hotel options. You can choose a Disneyland hotel or one of the Good Neighbor hotels. The package price will vary depending on the hotel you choose. They give you a ton of options and price ranges!
Disneyland Park Tickets
You can customize your vacation by choosing how many days you want to spend in the parks, you can choose between 2-5 days. Here’s a tip! We always choose the minimum amount of days we think we will be in the park. If we are deciding between spending 2 or 3 days in the park we choose to buy the 2 day park tickets. If you decide you want the extra 3rd day in the parks you can easily add the extra day to your ticket and just pay the difference between the cost of the 2-day and 3-day ticket. (You MUST upgrade your ticket BEFORE the park closes on the last day you use the ticket for park admission).
Also, it’s important to note that you DO NOT have to buy Park Hoppers. The package quotes usually contain Park Hoppers, but you can easily change the type of ticket you want at checkout. If we are only spending 2 days in the park we get the 2-Day 1-Park per day tickets. We save approximately $50 per ticket by choosing this option instead of the Park Hoppers. You also have the option of adding Max Pass to your ticket package. Max Pass allows you to book your Fast Pass selections via your phone instead of claiming them in person at each ride kiosk. You will also get all the Photo Pass photos for the day. Max Pass isn’t cheap, it’s $20 per person per day. It can add up quickly, lots of people rave about the convenience and say it’s worth the extra money. We tend to stick with the regular Fast Pass options, we have teenagers run and get all the Fast Passes for everyone and it works out great for us (and saves us money).
Disney Gift Card
When you purchase your Disneyland trip through Costco you will receive a Disney gift card as a bonus. The gift card amount will vary from $145-$245 depending on the length of your stay and the hotel you choose.
Disney Hotel – If you stay at a Disney hotel you will receive one gift card per package depending on the amount of nights you stay.
- Stay 2 to 4 nights and receive a $185 Disney Gift Card
- Stay 5 nights and receive a $205 Disney Gift Card
- Stay 6 nights and receive a $225 Disney Gift Card
- Stay 7 nights or more and receive a $245 Disney Gift Card
Good Neighbor Hotel – Get a $145 Disney Gift Card when you book a stay at a Good Neighbor hotel for 2 nights or more.
Magical Extras Savings Card
You will also receive a coupon book with additional savings and perks. The contents of the coupon book will vary from year to year. You will find coupons in this book to save money at Downtown Disney, save 15% on Disneyland Resort Park tour and more.
Lanyard and Pins
Redeem a voucher at a designated location and you will get a Disney lanyard and pin for each person in your the reservation. This is a fun bonus because your kids can trade the Disney pins with Disney Cast members. This has been a perk with Costco packages for awhile now. We booked our first package 9 years ago and we received them back then too.
Splitsville Luxury Lanes Bowling Discount
Roll into vacation with some savings on bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes™ in the Downtown Disney® District! Guests traveling on a vacation package receive $5.00 off bowling per person. (Applicable to walk-in rates only.)
Important Information
You may be surprised to see how much you can save when booking a package deal (it’s not always the case, but most of the time the savings were pretty big for us). If you have a Disney trip planned I encourage you to price out a package with both Costco Travel and Get Away Today and then see what the cost would be individually by booking a room directly through the hotel and buying your Disneyland tickets either through Disney or save a little by purchasing the tickets through Get Away Today.
Here are a few important facts when booking your Disneyland Travel package through Costco:
- If you are an Executive Member, you can earn 2% on your Costco Travel purchases!
- You will pay a $200 deposit at the time of booking and the remainder is due one month before your departure date.
- When paying for your package you can pay with your Disney Rewards card if you have a Disney Visa. I noticed this option when I checked out. I am assuming you should be able to pay with a Disney gift card too. (This is technically purchased through Disney Travel)
- You can pay the final amount due online via Disney, you just need the reservation number and your phone number. You should have received and email after you first booked your trip that will include the reservation number.
Cost Breakdown
Here is a peek at the cost breakdown I found when planning a trip for this year:
Get Away Today = $1820
- Hotel
- Disneyland Tickets (3 – 3-day Park Hoppers)
- Lanyards (given to you at check-in)
Costco Travel = $2003
- Hotel
- Costco Disneyland Tickets (3 – 3-day Park Hopper tickets)
- $145 Disney Gift Card (Bonus)
- 3 Lanyards and pins (Bonus)
Booking Hotel & Tickets individually = $1978
- Hotel = $898.50
- Disneyland Tickets from Get Away Today (3 – 3-day one park per day tickets) = $1080
In this case I would choose Get Away Today over Costco, but I would choose Costco over booking the items individually. I would subtract the cost of the gift card from the overall cost because this will be saving money that we would have spent on food in the parks anyway. After the deductions, the final cost of the Costco vacation would be $1858. Prices will vary every time you book depending on the season and availability. When we book a package deal more than half of the time we order from Get Away Today and the rest of the time we order from Costco.
Costco’s Disneyland Extras vary from year to year, here is a peek at some of the items that have been included in previous years, these items are not available for packages purchased for travel in 2020.

Premium Character Dining Vouchers
Here is the best part about the Costco character vouchers (in my opinion)! If you read the fine print on the back of the vouchers, they can be used at ANY Disney restaurant and each voucher is worth $49 for the adult vouchers and $29 for the kids vouchers. We prefer to use this option when we redeem our vouchers.
So, instead of using all 4 vouchers on 1 breakfast for our family, we use the four voucher individually at 4 different restaurants to cover almost an entire meal for our family. That is 4 meals covered instead of just one! One voucher for $49 can easily cover a meal for four people if you choose a quick service restaurant.
You will want to make sure that the meal you are purchasing is as close to the $49 value in order to get your money’s worth, because they will not give you any cash back. As an example, if you have a group of 2 and your meal only comes to $25, you will lose the additional $24 that the voucher was worth. If your group is small I would recommend eating at a nicer restaurant to get the full value of the vouchers. I highly recommend the Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans.

How much
@Debbi The package price varies according to which hotel you stay at (there are tons of options) and how long your park hopper passes are. You can get a price quote at Costco.com.
I’ve booked twice through Costco and both times we stayed at a Good Neighbor Hotel and both times we got a Disney gift card.
Hi, how far away was the expiration date on it? Could I use it on a future visit that would be relatively soon (4-5 months).
We spent a week at Disney World this summer and bought the photo pass. It is definitely worth it if you have large groups (we had 12) as all in your group are included and synced by Magic Bands, and if you’ll be there many days. I’d say 3+ personally. Then, you have to stop and say “yes” every time they ask to take your pic, or anytime you see a photo op. We ended up with close to 300 professional pics from our trip. They turned out great! It was especially fun to get out kids with all their favorite characters and whole family pics in front of iconic locals (castle, etc.)
Hi Christy, I always love and look forward to your Disney Land posts. Thank you for the price comparison. The past couple years we have done Getaway today but I will definitely check out Costco Travel. Thanks again
Hi! Do you know when the packages for 2018 will be available to book on Costco? I’ve been patiently waiting for months and it’s still just 2017. Thanks!
Angie, it should be very soon. I just got a flyer in the mail advertising the 2018 Disney vacations.
If you like scenic family pictures and especially ride pictures like Splash Mountain, Radiator Springs Racers – then the Photopass is well worth it! You can have all your ride pics scanned onto the Photopass at the counters where you would normally purchase them getting off a ride. Any time throught the park where you see a professional photog, you just have them scan your pass (on a lanyard) and pose for the picture. They took several shots each time so we had many, many great family pics to choose from! You get them online so you can download/print them however you please when you’re home.
My husband and I are planning to go to disneyland for christmas, he never been there, and we don’t have proper information on how to choose the hotel and would like to know prices and total amount will cost us from 12-23-2017 to 12-26-2017.
Maria – Just follow the links in the post and fill our your information, both Costco and Getaway Today will give you different hotel options to choose from. That time of year will be very busy, so you will probably pay more than usual.
What if you have annual passes? Can that be added or applied I guess is what I mean?
Hi! Do you have any info on how this would compare with Costco Canada? It’s something I’ve definitely been considering for the simple fact that you earn money back! And Costco seems like a reputable company to book through. I like the idea of no hiccups with your booking and holiday.
Thank you!
Sorry, I don’t have any experience with Costco Canada. I assume they have similar deals, you can check them out here. https://www.costcotravel.ca/?utm_source=costco.ca&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=TopNav&utm_term=costcotravel.ca&utm_content=20160621
Thanks for the great insight. What are some suggestions on cheaper places to eat to use the passes at? This will be our first time going and I am trying to plan my budget. Thanks!
This is awesome advice thank you! We actually have been thinking about booking a family trip to Disney through Costco so this is very helpful.
Thanks for the tips! I hope the vouchers are the same for this 2018 year! I booked with Fairfield as well because it was the closest available, but I am a little disappointed in the lack of perks, like $20/night for parking, and no microwave or breakfast. Is there other advantages that make this one of your favorites?
Cammy – They have a Panera Bread in the parking lot and we would use the app on our phone to place an order and pick it up. We did that for breakfast a couple of times. We also brought along an electric kettle and we used it with Mountain House breakfast meals to eat eggs/breakfast burritos in our room. I have found that quite a few hotels near Disneyland don’t have a microwave (even the Disneyland hotels). When we booked with them through Costco in 2017 we had a reduced parking fee of $5, that may have changed this year if the parking fee is more. We also like the fact that the room sleeps 5, most hotels only sleep 4, which was a big factor for our family. I hope you have a fabulous time!
If I purchase through get away today or Costsco and use my Disney card will that still qualify me for 6month finance free vacation from my Disney visa?
What if we booked our own Hotel and just want to buy tickets along with the extra stuff?
Marisol, The Costco deals are for packages only, they have to include a hotel stay in order to receive the tickets and extras. I would give Get Away Today a try for you tickets.
I noticed when I just paid off my Costco Disney Land Package it says our tickets and package will be delivered 5 days prior to us arriving at our Hotel Front Desk… Do they not mail it anymore? Also, if I want to reserve for Character Dining now how do I do that? It wants payment at time of booking , but I don’t have my package tickets?
Hi Amie,
I’m assuming you booked your trip with 30 days or less before your arrival, if that is the case that is why your Costco package will be at your hotel at check-in. If your arrival date is more than 30 days out it should be shipped to your home.
Most dining reservations require a credit card to hold your reservation, they won’t charge your card. You can enter your credit card information and still pay with your vouchers. The only way your credit card will be charged is if you are a no-show for your reservation, then they charge a fee of $10 per person. If you can’t make your reservation, you can cancel 24 hours before and you won’t be charged. I hope that clears things up. Have a great vacation!
Hey! Do you know whether they allow you to combine vouchers to pay for a single meal? For example: the meal at a restaurant totals $100 or $80 & I want to use 2 adult vouchers to pay for the $100 meal and/or an adult and child’s voucher to cover the $80 meal. Have you ever done this?
Thanks for sharing this tip, btw!
Hi Tina,
Yes, you can use two vouchers to cover one meal. We used two of ours to cover our meal at Cafe Orleans.
Hi Christy
Thank you for this tip on the dining vouchers. I see that you responded that you can use 2 for one meal to the previous question but was wondering if you have done that at a table service restaurant or can you only get away with it at quick service? here are 6 of us so we are getting 6 adult vouchers and it just makes sense to me to get more than one meal out of that (especially since all my kids are tween/teens boys so they could care less about meeting the characters).
I was thinking that we could do quick service fir one meal for 2 vouchers, but we might be able to do a sit down dinner for the other 4 maybe, but didn’t want them to say they would use the voucher for 4 of our meals and charge us for the other 2 if we came in under $200 for all 6.
And while I am asking questions. 🙂 Should we split up our quick service orders and use one voucher for each (2 kids and I usually order kids meals and husband and older teens get adult meals)?
I assume they would let us pay the difference over $49 if it came up to say $55 we could just pay the extra $6?!?! Is that accurate?
Hi Jenna,
We used 2 voucher at Cafe Orleans (which is a table service restaurant) and it was no problem. I don’t think you would want to split up the orders at a quick service restaurant., because you may lose some of the value of the voucher (they don’t give you any money back). The retail price of the adult voucher is $49 and you should be able to get 4 meals at a quick service restaurant for that price, you may just have to pay a few dollars extra. Yes, you can pay whatever the extra is after the voucher is applied. I would rather pay a few dollars over the voucher amount than miss out on any of the voucher’s value. The vouchers are pretty much just like cash, except for the fact that you don’t get cash back. Also, they are only valid at the restaurants in the parks and not at hotel restaurants. As an example, we usually use 1 voucher for 5 5 of us at Flo’s and just pay the extra. We use 2 vouchers for 5 of us a Cafe Orleans and usually just have to pay the tip. I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have any other question. I am happy to help!
Hi, thank you for the information. we did bought our 6 nights package for 4 people from costco travel back in march,2018. its already less then a month to go in june,2018 and its may 21st,2018 today. but we didnt received any package from costco yet. moreover when we call them for where to get tickets, they reply, we have to collect it from the hotel and they dont give anything on mail anymore. so its just the tickets and parking in hotel. thats all. Feeling very sad !!
Raeesah
If you purchases a Disneyland hotel package, you will still get all the extras you will just receive them when you check into your hotel. We picked up our last package at the hotels and included all of the extras I mentioned here. No worries! You’ll get everything they mention in the package deal. Have a fabulous time!
Is this still working for 2018? I just chatted with someone thru costco travel and he said its only one voucher per person. Can’t use one to cover 4 meals. I’m wondering if hes just misinformed. TIA!
Ashley,
Yes, it still works for 2018. I’m guessing the customer service rep did not understand your question. It is true that you will receive only 1 voucher per person. Disney is the one that issues the voucher and the fine print on the back says the voucher can be used for $49 at any restaurant in the parks (It doesn’t matter how many meals you buy, it’s worth $49). We did in fact use these Costco voucher on our trip in April 2018 and had no problem redeeming them. The photo above that displays the fine print is exactly the voucher you will receive with your 2018 package.
I can confirm you are able to pay the initial $200 with a Disney Gift Card as well as your remaining balance. I recommend consolidating them first into one – $1,000 gift card. That is the most you can put on a single Disney Gift Card via their web site.
Very nice article and well written, thank you for this!
Also Christy, I think it would be great if the newest comment appeared first as opposed to last. It’s not an issue to scroll down, just a bit confusing to see 2016 dates almost rendering this bulk of information dated.
FYI, we have traveled to DL using the costco package for 3 years now. Changes this last trip in April of 2018. The packet was given to us at the front desk of the hotel as we checked in—we stay usually at the Disneyland hotel. There were no luggage tags anymore— I’m mostly upset about that since my old DL costco luggage tags broke and I needed new ones.
Hi Roro,
I too traveled in April and received the Costco luggage tags, maybe they were accidentally left out of your package. Did you book your trip about a month away from your arrival date? If so, that is why you had to pick up your package at the hotel instead of it being mailed to you. They still ship the packages, but they won’t be shipped if there isn’t a lot of time between the booking and the arrival date.
@Thia Great suggestion! I will see if I can switch it up, right now the problem would be that you would be reading replies to comments before you read the comment. I’ll see if I can come up with a good solution and maybe turn on “reply to comment”. I think they would all stay in a correct order that way. I’m adding this on my “to do” list.
I am planning a trip to DL in December and planning on booking through Costco. Do you recommend getting the insurance or have you used it before? That is money that I can put towards other things like churros ha
Hi Chauncey,
The insurance is a personal decision, but I have always skipped it. I would read the fine print to see what it includes, I bought insurance once (from a different company) and it didn’t cover what I thought it would.
So glad I found your post cuz i was unsure of which way to book our Disneyland trip. We booked it 2 days ago but it said that since we paid for our trip in full that our package would be at the front desk of the hotel. Our trip isn’t until November and I was really looking forward to getting all the goodies in the mail before we left. Do you know if that’s the norm or did I maybe misunderstand?
Does Costco still offer the Fairfield as an option? I cant seem to find it.
@Deborah Yes, it’s still available through Costco. I just used them for our trip in April. I checked for a trip in November and it showed up in the drop down menu and as an offer. If they aren’t showing up for you trip, they may be booked for that time. To double check select the good neighbor option and then choose Fairfield from the drop down menu. You might also see if it’s available from Get Away Today.
@Christy Thank you! I figured it out… I’m new at the Disney trips and I was looking for Disney “world” trips. Do you have any tips for hotels etc for there? 🙂 I appreciate your knowledge!
Deborah
If I understand correctly, you are looking for Disney World hotels? My goodness there are SO many to choose from there. We usually stay at a Hyatt or Marriott property because we have points. We have also stayed at the B hotel and were very happy with our stay. The B hotel is walking distance to Disney Springs and includes Disney Extra Magic hours (usually only Disney owned properties offer this). As far as Disney hotels go we like the moderate priced Coronado Springs resort.
Make sure you check out their free dining plan that is available to purchase through August 1st. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/resort-stay-dining-package/
Hi Christy,
I noticed when booking your Disneyland package on Costco Travel, the website and email confirmation received in May (travel is in October) that it states tickets, etc will be delivered to the hotel front desk. Packages can be picked up on day of check in. For your April 2018 travel, did you receive your package in the mail?
Thank you for the information. I too did not know about the dining vouchers and am glad since in 2015 we made sure we booked a character dining which took some time away from our fun in the park.
Hi Marissa,
Yes, with our April vacation we picked up the package at our hotel, I thought it was just because it we booked our trip with less than 30 days. It sounds like they may be doing the hotel pick up for all vacations now. It’s actually kind of nice that way you don’t have to forget about accidentally leaving all your paperwork at home.
Do you know when the 2019 Disneyland Resort Vacation packages will be available from Costco?
Why don’t you book airfare at the same time? Costco seems to have some great flights at decent prices.
Great question Russ! My husband accrues a lot of frequent flier miles with his job, so we find it’s easier and cheaper to use the miles for many of our flights. We also have an Alaska Airlines visa which gives us free checked bags and a $99 companion fare (which we save for more expensive flights).
I’m also a member of Scott’s Cheap Flights so I find inexpensive flights that way too.
I’m not opposed to booking flights via Costco, I just find with our miles, rewards cards and the cheap flight emails I get from Scott’s they are usually cheaper. Next time I’m booking a trip through Costco, I will have to double check the price on airfare that they offer I haven’t checked in awhile.
Hi there. Thanks for all this valuable info. I will return here to read some more. In the interim, I have one question that you may/may not be able to answer. Does Costco offer packages without hotel? We already have a place to stay near Disney. We are a family of three and will likely travel with friends. Any suggestions for other parks welcomed. We will be there for 1 week! Thank you!
The character dining MAY be hit or miss. I say that because of two experiences I had. One at the Blue Bayou where it was accepted, and the other time at Carthay Circle where it was not accepted. Ask before you get your meal if you’re banking on using it for anything other than character dining. I was pretty bummed it was inconsistent.
