The National School Lunch Program provides FREE and low-cost lunch and breakfast to children who meet income guidelines. When school is out, that’s two less nutritious meals for some children. We all can pitch in and help hungry kids with Champions for Kids: SIMPLE Service Project. SIMPLE Service Projects are simple ways for people to help children in their communities.
Every SIMPLE Service Project has 4 basic steps:
- GATHER your friends, family, and co-workers.
- LEARN about the needs of children in your community.
- GIVE items to help kids enjoy happier & healthier lives.
- SHARE your story with us to inspire others.
You can will $25,000 for your school. Do your own SIMPLE Service Project and you can win $25,000 for your own school! You can get all the details on how to share your story and be entered for the funds for your school
I think it’s important to teach our kids about serving others. We have done several service projects as a family including cleaning up our community, donating food to our local food bank, working at Northwest Harvest and donating our time at the local soup kitchen. Now would be a great time to gather up or family and friend and put together a Champions for Kids SIMPLE service project.
We wanted to make a donation to our local food bank, so I loaded up the youngest 2 in the car and off we headed to Walmart.
We picked up groceries that we could take to our food bank, we made sure to pick up several items from the Champions of Kids: Simple Service sponsors including:
- Tyson
- Birds-Eye
- State Fair
You can get involved in the Champions for Kids: Summer of Giving program by visiting the frozen food section at your local Walmart Super Center where you can learn more about how you can help provide 5 million meals this summer.
I participated in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
