I promised a review of my first week of freezer cooking with the meals I made from Don’t Panic Dinner’s in the Freezer. I didn’t use the freezer meals every day of the week, I cooked 3 of the items.
The waffles were gone in like 2 days, so next time I will have to triple the recipe. Which is one of the great feature of the book. They give you the standard recipe size and also those for 3x, 6x, or 9x. If you decide to do this with a group of friends all the tripling work has been done for you. Another thing I like, is that the standard size is big enough for our family of 7. If you have a family of 4, the standard size might be enough for 2 meals for you.
My boys really like the Sloppy Joes and Hawaiian chicken. I have never really made sloppy joes before, and my oldest loved it. There was a little leftover, so he had it as a snack when he came home from school the next day. The youngest was not so fond of the Hawaiian chicken, because “there was stuff on his chicken”. He is the picky one with sensory issues, so his opinion doesn’t really count. I am anxious to try the baked beans, we haven’t tried them yet, but I am sure my family will love them, they have bacon in them. Yummy! The baked beans makes a big batch, I separated them and froze them in 3 different bags, so they can be used as side dishes when we have hamburgers.
The thing I think I enjoyed the most that I didn’t even think about when I started on this freezer cooking adventure, is that meal clean up is so much easier. After dinner is over the majority of the clean up is just the dinner dishes. I don’t have to worry about cleaning tons of pots and pans, measuring utensils, and wooden spoons. I love that!
I am very pleased with the meals in this book, and the new way of cooking dinner that I have found. I am definitely going to make this way of cooking my regular way of cooking dinner. If you are interested either of the Don’t Panic Dinner is in the Freezer cookbooks, you can get them at Amazon for a great price. They ship for free with $25 in products, when you select free super saver shipping (I love that Amazon feature!) I will be giving a way a copy of each cookbook on my blog, the first one will start today.
