One of my favorite things about shopping at Target is there holiday clearance. On Monday, April 9th all of the Easter clearance will go 50% off at Target (bagged candy will probably start out at 30% off). These holiday items will get marked down to 70% off, and then they finally end at 90% off.
I don’t usually buy any items at 50% off, I like to wait and see what I can find at 70% and 90% off. Don’t assume that because it’s the Easter clearance you won’t be able to find any items that you can use for everyday. There are lots of everyday items that you can find in the holiday clearance.
Here are some examples of items you may find:
There are lots of little toys and games that were meant for Easter basket fillers. Many of these toys don’t have an Easter them at all. You can pick up these small toys for gifts, party favors or even stocking stuffers. I love to pick up items for stocking stuffers all year long so when Christmas rolls around I have all of my stocking stuffer shopping done. Plus, I picked up everything for cheap! You will find Lego’s, Cars, Uno games and more.
They even have Burt’s Bees lip balm in the Easter section. This sells for $2.99, so it will be only $1.49 at 50% off, $ .90 at 70% and and if you get really lucky and find some at 90% off, it will cost you only $ .30.
They have a cute packages of Scunci pony tail holders. These are great for everyday use!
The Easter section has some food other than candy. You will find Goldfish crackers, Oreo cookies, Pillsbury frosting and more.
They have so many great kitchen gadgets and baking pans that you can pick up at 50% off or more. I noticed Spatulas, mini springform pans, baking sheets, donut pans and lots more.
I also saw some cake decorating tips made by Nordic Ware, these retail for $19.99, so they would be only $9.99 at 50% off.
Several of the Easter buckets and baskets would make great organizational containers for kids rooms or anywhere else.
Keep you eyes open and see what items you can find for everyday. Do you buy items at 50% off, or do you wait until they get to 70% off?

Thanks for posting the photos… can’t wait to see what I find next week. Dd’s party is on the 15th and I am hosting a baby shower on the 28th so I might pick up items at 50% that I otherwise would have waited to see if I found them at a markdown. Don’t forget cute Easter tops and socks in the kids sections 😉
I have to stop by this week at 50% to see what they have. My new theory is I can purchase items at half price and can always return them if I find them for less later on, right?
I was very disappointed this morning @ Target. The Easter toys/ trinkets were only 30% off – some weren’t even marked down when I scanned them and the selection was nill. Walmart was actually the best deal – EVERYTHING Easter was 50% off. I was able to pick up lots of (pastel-wrapped) candy for a pinata in September — with all of the candy expiring in 2013!
Christy,
When will you be checking back for 70%/90% off Easter? My problem is I always wait too long.
Thx
@Jacy Last year the Easter clearance went 70% off 4 days after Easter, on a Thursday, so that gives us a good idea of when it may happen this year. I will post here and on the Thrifty and Thriving Facebook page first thing as soon as I have heard that it has gone 70% off.
Typically, if you buy seasonal clearance and return, if the item is food, they will not put back on the shelf and they will not sell it back for health and safety reasons. It has to be thrown away. For other items, they have the right to not sell to you immediately and put back on the shelf later in the day when put all returns back on the shelves, meaning you will have to be willing to hang around possibly all day and still may not be able to get the items
