You can rent textbooks via Chegg.com, they also plant a tree every time you rent. Most of these places also offer free shipping, so you there is no added expense.

Get the Electronic Version of Textbooks:
Both Amazon
and Barnes & Noble offer electronic versions of the textbooks for their eReaders. The great thing, is you don’t have to have a Kindle or a Nook, you can download the apps for both of these and read the books right from your computer or phone.

You can save tons of money by simply borrowing text books from friends that have taken the same class as you. I also learned from several people that libraries will offer textbooks to checkout.
Sell your textbooks back:
You can sell your textbooks back at the following places to make some money back from your purchases. You can then use the money (or gift cards) you earn to purchase your next set of textbooks.
