I love the story about the Birthday sign! My mom made a birthday banner out of felt with changable letters and candles and made us take a picture with it on our birthdays. She still does — and I’m 32!

Your post reminded me of what my own dad used to do on my birthday. He would make up a “treasure hunt” (complete with clues) for finding my birthday gift. My most vivid memory of this game is finding an exceptional pair of Smurf rollerskates in the clothes dryer! Thanks for sharing your story!

thanks for sharing, it was a great way for your parents to show their love for you. I too think sometimes we get too much into materialist things and I might take on the flowers for my daughter as well.
