@Dawn C. We visited Universal Studios (Island of Adventure) for one day and we loved it. The park was actually way better than I thought it would be. You can definitely spend several days at both of the parks. I haven’t done too much research on Universal.

I would start checking out what the cost would be at Costco: https://www.costcotravel.com/#11_universalOrlando
That will give you a good idea for what price you are trying to beat. A lot of times the prices will be lower if you book things separately, but it will give you a general idea of what it would cost.

I know a lot of times they have coupons for admission, you can usually find the coupons on Ebay (sorry, I don’t know where else to get them).

I will ask this question on Facebook, I am sure some other people with more knowledge on Universal Studios will have some great suggestions for you.

I just wanted to know if you have any great tips for visiting universal studios? We have done Disney World and thought we would try universal this summer. I realize alot of your information could apply for any trip but wanted to know if you have specifics related to universal. I love all your input on Disney and it was very helpful on our last trip. If they Disney credit card is isn’t offering 200 bucks I’d say do something else. The Costco amex card is better cash back and you can just go to customer service to get cash for your rebate check. We buy as much as we can on our credit cards and pay them off every month just to earn the cash back. I also do online surveys and swagbucks for amazon gift cards. Yay Disney vacations!

We have a separate credit union account for only our car payments. They take the money right out of the account so I don’t even have to think about it. A certain amount of money is taken from each paycheck to to cover the amount needed. Well a few years ago I added an extra $50 from each paycheck then on top of that there is a couple times a year we get an extra paycheck in the month. Just recently I refinanced both vehicles and kept the amount from each paycheck the same. The money adds up pretty quick you, especially if don’t ever look at it. I check the balance about once every three months and I’m always surprised how much there is. That is now my car/vacation account! I love to go to the credit union and withdraw all that money knowing it’s all going to be for something fun!

We track all of our savings from couponing each month and that amount is put into a separate svgs acct. We generally allot 1/3 to 1/2 of the amount in that account at the end of the year to the next year’s vacation.

The remaining is used to help defray things like unexpected car repair, new tires, stove, etc. This really helps and does not throw our regular budget into turmoil.
