Deb – I have a post in the works, I”ll be sharing reviews of all the hotels we’ve used near Disneyland (over 10 hotels). It should go up next week. We prefer hotels within walking distance, our faves are Fairfield Inn, Grand Legacy at the Park and we tried Tropicana Inn & Suites on our last trip and we were happy with that too.

Hi Christy! I just booked airline tickets for a New Year’s trip to Disneyland. We’ve never seen the park dressed up for the Christmas holidays, so we’re really looking forward to that. I recently went to Target to get my disney gift cards using my Target gift cards and their register system will no longer let you buy other gift cards with Target gift cards. I was so bummed. The cashier had no issue with it , the register wouldn’t take it.

I am so sorry, that would have been very frustrating. One of my biggest recommendations is to travel when it is not as busy. We avoid holidays, summer and weekends. It makes for a much more enjoyable experience. We will even take our kids out of school for a couple days rather than go when they are busy. I hope you get the chance to visit again when it is less crowded it should make a world of difference.

I love your posts, and visit your site often but I feel the need to comment here. We just recently returned from CA. We I’d a 2 day single park Disney and a 2 day saver universal. Disney day 1 was awesome, it was Christmas day, not over crowded, not too hot. We scheduled our 2nd Disney day for the 27th. Got there super early,place was packed. By 11am there were no fast pass times left, there was a power cut, people were at a standstill no one could go forward or backwards.. It took my family over an hour to try to leave. There was a 4 hour wait to get a refund at town hall. As a mobility scooter user I was bashed and beaten and bruised trying to get to the exit , where Disney was still admitting people. We are still trying to get our money back over a week later, Disney is making us jump through hoops for it too. If I were you, I would visit California adventure and go to universal instead. My 11 year old was heartbroken.

For me, AAA is like a cheap insurance policy. I can call them anytime and get a jump, have a tire changed or patched, they’ll come unlock my car if I accidentally leave my keys inside. They’ll tow or bring you a gallon of gas. All included in the membership! There is no additional cost to any of these services. And it’s great because it goes with me, not my car. So if I’m with someone else who gets a flat, I can call and help them. A mom at my daughter’s gymnastics gym locked her keys in the car. I was able to call AAA and have them come pop her lock, at no cost.

There are years I use the towing/car help multiple times, and years I never use it. But it’s worth it for my sanity to know help is just a call away.
In addition, you can get free paper maps, tour books, and travel planning.
Then there are the discounts–I saved enough on Indianapolis Children’s Museum passes to cover the cost of my membership this year.

I do a lot of these suggestions and love saving a few dollars here and there! You can go to disneygiftcard.com (sign in to your Disney account) and combine all your gift cards. Super easy.
